Now five, Dermot Weld's entire has only managed three runs in his career to date, but they have been full of promise.
He was at one point ante-post favourite for the Derby after winning the Guineas Trial at Leopardstown, but missed the rest of his three-year-old campaign.
A series of setbacks kept him off the track until the October of his four-year-old season, but he showed his engine was intact when finishing second in a Listed race.
He was being readied for a return to action in the spring but never made it to the track and while this weekend will come too soon, connections are hoping to see him back in action this season.
Angus Gold, racing manager for owner Sheikh Hamdan Al Maktoum, said: "Zawraq won't be running this weekend, unfortunatel. However, he is coming forward slowly."
