Top tipster Dave Nevison has three best bets on Wednesday, with one from Ripon, plus two from Nottingham - live on Racing TV.
4.18 Nottingham: Star Time
This is a really interesting handicap with several contestants looking to hit winning form and progress. Star Time looked like having a successful 2025 when finishing second at Wolverhampton in February, but that was the last time we saw him for 14 months.
He reappeared early last month and ran well enough to suggest he can make up for lost time while looking as though the race was needed, fading in the closing stages.
Alan King has his string in very good form and, having been given a month to get over that reappearance, I expect Star Time to make significant progress. The competitive nature of this race suggests he should be backable at an each-way price.
5.18 Nottingham: Run This Way
It was not that long ago, June 2024, that this gelding was winning handicaps off a mark of 66, but he then had a year or so when clearly not right and plummeted down the handicap before coming good again to win off a mark of 48 last month.
He followed up off a mark of 51 later in the month and, though Paul Midgely’s eight-year-old sprinter has been raised a further 7lb for this, he is still clearly well-handicapped on past form and can complete a hat-trick.
He is in again on Saturday and the trainer clearly feels he can strike while the iron is hot.

7.10 Ripon: Barley
Barley is on an extended losing run, but probably shouldn’t be having looked most unlucky not to score at Hamilton when short-head second in a similar grade race.
Tim Easterby’s gelding handles this idiosyncratic course very well and has finished second here four times, including in 0-100 grade as recently as last August.
The seven-year-old is now clearly well enough handicapped to win and should gain compensation for that recent defeat here with plenty in his favour.
