Three for the notebook: Peter Naughton selects a trio to keep a close eye on

Peter flagged up the chances of Threading (9-2) and Mojito (3-1) before their wins at the Welcome To Yorkshire Ebor Festival in his Nagme column last week
Euchen Glen ran well when third in the 2m handicap at York last Wednesday. Jim Goldie's unexposed stayer sneaked into the bottom of the weights off 8st 10lb on the back of a narrow Shergar Cup success.
That was his first run beyond 1m5f and hold-up tactics on rain-softened ground clearly suited the progressive four-year-old.
Up only 2lb in this better company, Euchen Glen was held up in this very slowly-run race - the winning time was 17sec above standard - but made ground two out.
Ridden to chase the leaders over a furlong from home, he was no match for well handicapped winner Magic Circle but kept on under pressure inside the final furlong to take third close home.
He can progress again when granted a true test of stamina.
Balestra ran better than his finishing position of thirteenth in the 1m handicap at York on Friday.
Charles Hills' unexposed three-year-old raced against his own generation in this fiercely competitive event on his handicap debut.
The winner of a Bath maiden 51 days earlier, he came here fresh and raced in touch on the inner before making headway four-out.
Ridden three out, the classy colt weakened before the two-furlong pole and beat only two rivals. Balestra might do better when giving weight, especially if dropping into a 0-80.
Roundhay Park traveled strongly when third in the 5f nursery at Beverley on Sunday and would have finished closer had the gaps opened earlier.
Well drawn in stall three, the classy son of Mayson sat just behind the leaders on the rail but was still waiting for an opening as the front two headed for home.
Running on strongly in the final furlong, he finished a close third and was still full of running after the line.
Improving with each outing, Roundhay Park had finished second and first on his previous two starts - both over course and distance.
The form of his victory was boosted when runner-up Wensley won a novice event at Pontefract, so a mark of 74 could be very workable.
