Racing TV's Martin Dixon casts his eye over Saturday's British action and picks out four horses at the top of his shortlist.
(Selections first provided to subscribers to the on Friday afternoon - any odds mentioned were correct at that time).
1.30 Aintree: Harbour Lake
Alan King has his team of National Hunt horses in good form and Harbour Lake returns to action from a handy mark (1lb lower than his last win).
He's gone well fresh, winning first time out in 2021 and 2022, and last season was very disjointed for him as he didn't take to chasing initially but ran two fine races when stepped up to 3m in the spring. I expect him to be cherry ripe for this and hopefully he's set for a good season in staying hurdles.
2.05 Aintree: Coastguard Station
When Coastguard Station gets a strong pace to aim at in a 2m handicap chase – as seems likely here - he's shown on more than one occasion that he's a talented horse, especially on a flat, left-handed track that seems to suit him best, so this looks to be an optimum set-up.
Likely main market rival Imperial Saint is open to improvement but in what looks set to be a competitive, strongly-run race I'm hopeful Coastguard Station's significant chasing experience will stand him in good stead.

Soul Icon has yet to win over fences but has run some fine races in defeat
2.23 Wincanton: Soul Icon
Soul Icon might still be a maiden over fences but he's run some mighty races in defeat in some very competitive handicaps over fences, not least when second in the Summer Plate at Market Rasen on his most recent start, after which he was pushed to a fully-deserved rating of 142 by the official handicapper that makes him the highest rated horse in this Rising Stars Novices' Chase.
He may not be the best prospect of the field in the fullness of time, but all of his experience will doubtless stand him in good stead and the quickish ground will be perfect for him to be at his best.

7.00 Chelmsford: Bank On Kent
An 0-7 maiden rated 58 may not be high on a list of trustworthy betting options but Bank On Kent is the sole pace in this seven-runner nursery and I wonder if with blinkers on for the first time he might just be able to slip the field on a track where it can be hard to peg them back.
On his latest start at Leicester, I thought he ran better than the result when drawn higher than ideal and unable to get towards the far side that was favoured. And on his only all-weather start he was only collared late on from a 1lb higher mark at Kempton in August, behind Leyhaimur who went on to win again from a higher rating.
