Andy Stephens like a pair at Goodwood and is also sweet on one at Naas. Watch how they fare live on Racing TV.
✅ 2.30 NAAS: THE SCALLIONATOR
Draw advantage: 0.53 lengths
Trainer A/E: 1.15
The Scallionator has won at Listowel and Cork this year and is the one to beat in the Irish EBF Auction Series Race Final.
He has kept some exalted company and can boast being quicker than Sun Goddess in each of the first three furlongs of the Group 1 Phoenix Stakes in August. It didn’t last, but he is favoured by the race conditions here and RaceiQ points to his draw in stall 13 also being favourable.
✅ 2.57 GOODWOOD: ZARAK CROWN
Haydock run: 3rd best FSP
Ayr final furlong: 13.42sec
Jockey A/E at Goodwood: 1.40
Zarak Crown was a promising fourth to Burning Up, the subsequent Royal Lodge runner-up, on his Haydock debut and built on that when winning over a mile on soft ground at Ayr last time.
The latter race was attritional, reflected by the Finishing Speed Percentages, but Zarak Crown showed plenty of stamina. James Doyle will be on board and his rides at Goodwood in the past year have exceeded market expectations by 40 per cent.
✅ 3.32 GOODWOOD: DEEP HAVANA
Thirsk Time Index: 6.3 (average 6.1)
Thirsk furlong 3: 10.75sec (fastest)
Trainer overall A/E: 1.32
Deep Havana fluffed his lines when favourite for the Ladbrokes Silver Cup at Ayr last month but had excuses and deserves another chance.
His previous win at Thirsk looks solid form. He tanked through that contest before pulling out plenty.
The RaceiQ Pace Map points to him being favourably drawn in stall 3, near several front-runners, and trainer Hamad Al Jehani remains one that punters should keep onside.
