Top pundit Martin Dixon tipped 11-1 and 11-4 winners at Newmarket on Saturday, live on Racing TV.
2.40 York: Callianassa (e/w)
A big-priced fancy for me here.
This filly is trained by Brian Ellison, and returned to form at Musselburgh last time out where she was a bit unlucky not to score, I thought. She met some trouble entering the final furlong, and then ran on in the closing stages to be beaten little more than a neck.
That was a really good performance, and she's a strong stayer over a mile. I think there should be a fast gallop here, too, which will really suit.
I also like her draw in stall seven as she should be able to slot in behind the pace and hopefully get a good trip. She looks over-priced at around 16-1, and I'll be backing her each-way.
3.17 York: Pellitory (nap)
I'm surprised Pellitory is available at odds of 17-2, at the time of writing. He won the Ladbrokes Ayr Gold Cup on heavy ground two starts ago, and and backed up that run with a good effort in defeat at Ascot last weekend.
If he's got the breaks at the right time at Ascot, then I think he would have gone very close to winning again, so he's certainly not handicapped out of things off a rating of 104.
He's improved since the tongue tie was fitted, and obviously handles a bit of ease in the ground, which there was at York on Friday's card.
I believe he's also drawn on the right part of the track from stall three, and I'm surprised he's as big as he is. He's thriving, and is another I'll be siding with each-way. I'd also nominate him as my nap of the day.
4.50 Newmarket: Midgham Man (e/w)
Rod Millman's charge is an each-way pick for me here.
He's a gelding who got off the mark in very easy fashion at Chepstow two starts ago when he botled up on soft ground. He clocked a good time that day, too, and won by ten lengths.
There was a bit of rain at Newmarket on Friday, which should have eased the ground, and I think that could help this son of Study Of Man who is a big, good-looking horse, with the physical scope to keep on improving.
He performed with a lot of credit at Doncaster on his Nursery debut when last seen behind Fuel The Jet, which looks a strong piece of form. I also like his forward-going style for this track.
He's chalked up at a best-priced 18-1, at the time of writing.
