12.50 Wexford: Caher Roes Den

11/4

I've been waiting for this former Irish Point winner (on soft ground) to go over fences, and he looks to have been found a very winnable race.

Caher Roes Den failed to win in six starts for Ben Brookhouse but obliged on just his second start for Willie Mullins in August and shaped just as well when third from a 10 lb higher mark in a better contest at Listowel last month.

Though rated inferior to some of these over hurdles, he should come into his own now tackling fences and this test of stamina should prove ideal.

1.07 Galway: Nine Graces (E/W)

18/1

With the going described as Soft to heavy-heavy in places on the chase course, I don't think it's going to be easy for horses to make up much ground so track position could prove key.

Ma Jacks Hill isn't a reliable horse from flag fall, so whilst I think he might be one for backing in-running if getting away well and going to the front, it's Nine Graces that I'm most interested in.

The Barry Connell-trained mare was ridden more positive in the mud on her two starts last winter and she stays well so should give backers a good run for their money on her reappearance; back her each-way at 16-1.

15:20 Galway: Direct Approach

10/1

Although Direct Approach has a bit to find on the ratings, I'm hoping that the longer trip and test of stamina could be a leveller against some speedier horses.

Formerly with Donnacha O'Brien on the Flat, the four-year-old isn't bred for this game but has looked stamina-laden in his runs since joining Gordon Elliott, and appeared to appreciate the greater test when winning at the track last time.

Having chased home the odds-on Telegram Sam on his previous start, and finished ahead of a short-priced Emmet Mullins favourite when winning earlier this month, the form has some substance and he should go well again. 9-1 looks too big for this prominent racer.
