Angus McNae's Sunday racing tips: Be wise and back Solomon

There is some excellent racing at Haydock today where the Sky Bet Sunday series concludes and following on from a winner in this column last week, I am hopeful of more success today.

Win an incredible VIP trip for two to the Bahrain International Trophy

We have teamed up with the Bahrain Turf Club to offer two people the chance to win an incredible trip to the Bahrain International Trophy.
The prize includes flights, three nights stay in 5* accommodation and hospitality raceday tickets.
This apprentice handicap can go to William Haggas who saddles the unexposed Solomon. Having finished third to the 2000 Guineas winner Notable Speech at Kempton he had no luck in running after a break when last seen at York. He will be better for that comeback run and this 10-furlong trip should be ideal. He could be a fair way ahead of his current mark of 85 and this handicap should be well within his scope.
I fancy that this once-raced two-year-old will have too much speed for his rivals. He shaped well on his debut at Ffos Las only beaten by a horse that had previous experience. The time of that of that race was good and the way that he travelled suggests that he has plenty of raw ability. His main market rival looks as if he wants further than this trip of six furlongs and I can see Zayer making all the running here.
This mare is handicapped to win and shaped well last time out here at Haydock. She conceded first run to the winner in a steadily-run affair but finished her race off strongly to be beaten just half a length in second place. She shaped with promise in a strong handicap at York on her first try at two miles and with stamina being her main asset another try at the trip is well worth a go. She looks sure to run well.
This horse is looking to scoop the £100,000 bonus for winning three races in this series and I think he can make it a big pay day for the Jim Goldie team. He is a thoroughly progressive sprint handicapper who has won two of his last three starts, his only defeat coming at he hands of the distinctly useful Desperate Hero. He has a high cruising speed and a change of gear when required and I don’t think an 8lb rise in the weights for his recent success can stop him. The bonus is very much on the cards for a horse who could be a long way ahead of his mark.
