Horse racing tips: Dave Nevison's top tips for Thursday

After two winners on Tuesday, our pundit and resident website tipster makes the case for three runners on Thursday. Enjoy all the action from Sandown Park, and Leopardstown live on Racing TV.
It's been a decent start to the week with , so hopefully I can build on that with a couple of selections from a yard that has certainly done me a favour or two previously.
Some of you know from our chats at various Racing TV Club days that I am a frustrated MasterChef contestant. I have decided to launch my own 'supper club' where I hope to host a few people to an enjoyable lunch with good food, racing nostalgia, a few stories from my life on the turf and maybe even the Ebor winner thrown in! if any of you are interested in joining me in central London on 20 August at 1.30pm then please email me at [email protected].

4.00 Brighton: ZHANG FEI

Zhang Fei is quite a tricky ride and jockeys often find it difficult to get him to settle, but Fern O’Brien decided to give him his head over hurdles last time and he bolted up by 12 lengths.
The rider is booked again here and still claims a very valuable 7lb, and she looks to be on a runner that is definitely well-enough handicapped to win another race on turf.
There is a good possibility Zhang Fei may get an easy lead here and if his young rider can keep enough in reserve again then the combination may well follow up.

5.45 Sandown: GLOBAL ESTEEM

I am continuing my run tipping in amateur rider events - it hasn’t done me any harm in recent weeks and there are always decent-sized fields.
Global Esteem is guaranteed to go from the front - a tactic I like at Sandown - and he ran well enough over course and distance last month to suggest he is in good enough form for this.
Fergal O’Brien has engaged a top class and experienced rider in Becky Smith, who should be able to judge the pace well enough.
Global Esteem ran well enough on the Flat last season without winning, but has dropped 9lb in the weights and looks on a handy mark now.

8.15 Sandown: CHALK MOUNTAIN

Although he has been beaten four times off the same mark since winning on the all-weather last year, I feel Chalk Mountain might be worth sticking with in a race that looks set to be run to suit.
The four-year-old is still quite lightly raced and looks to have run himself into form for trainer this year, most recently finishing an excellent short-head second at Newbury last time.
He may still have improvement in him and his consistency suggests he is worth an each-way bet in this at least.
