Ross Millar's Sunday tips: best bets at the Curragh and Doncaster

Has been expensive to follow this season, while still showing a high level of form having been placed in both the Wokingham and the Stewards' Cup.

This extra furlong and good ground can unlock further improvement, and he's rated higher on the all-weather, plus this does look an easier assignment.

Sun Goddess is head and shoulders above these rivals in every conceivable way. 

On form, she was entitled to win the Harry's Half Million By Goffs race at York last time out in the manner that she did. However, the way the race played out means the performance is worthy of as serious upgrade.

She repeatedly lacked crucial racing room, and looked to have a mountain to climb with two furlongs to run, yet once switched out wide, she flew home to win eased down. 

On that evidence, the extra furlong will suit well, and she’s twice taken the measure of second-favourite Green Empress. I struggle to find a reason why the form will be reversed. 

As I write this, she’s the evens favourite, and I’d suggest she’s the best value evens bet to race in a juvenile contest anywhere this season, in my opinion, with the only concern being the yard’s moderate recent form, though that could well have been rectified by the close of racing on Saturday. 

Giant Sequoia made hard work of winning a Group Two over course and distance last time out, and I believe he looked like a colt that would come into his own over middle-distances next season. I’m therefore slightly surprised that Ryan Moore has opted to ride him over the progressive Haffner. 

However, both Ballydoyle colts might well find Monogram too hot to handle. He produced a tremendous final furlong when making a winning debut over this course and distance three weeks ago where he was given a patient ride by Dylan Browne McMonagle. he passed virtually the entire field in the closing furlong to make a striking impression. 

The form is yet to be tested, although it’s fair to say that all of the big yards were represented in what looked an above-average maiden, so I have little concern on that front. 

Perhaps the bigger concern is the change of jockey, with retained rider Colin Keane now in the saddle, and I have mild concern over his decision making in top races, in contrast to the ice-cold attitude of McMonagle. That said, I fully expect Monogram to come out best here. 

Produced a dominant performance to win the Betfred Oaks at Epsom, but was unable to back that up in the Paddy Power Pretty Polly Stakes where she looked noticeably uncomfortable on the quickest ground she'd encountered. 

Her talented trainer has afforded her ample time to recover from that and, back on an easier surface, I expect her to demonstrate her class.
