Racing TV's Harry Allwood shares his best bets across and on Sunday.
2.00 Leicester: Power Of Twins
Best odds: 6-4.
Power Of Twins has gradually been improving this season and should have won but for being eased down too soon at Bath last time out.
She would have scored with a bit to spare there despite the eventual winner, Lovestruck Romeo, finishing strongly towards the line, and the pair pulled nicely clear of the third.
A rating of 67 for her Nursery debut here looks fair and stepping up to seven furlongs shouldn't be a hinderance.
With the ground in her favour, she holds obvious claims of gaining compensation here, especially as this doesn't appear the strongest contest on paper.
2.10 Ripon: Makalu
Best odds: 13-2 (each-way).
A competitive race on paper, but Makalu was an eye-catcher at Pontefract last time out and is worth siding with each-way at the 13-2 on offer.
Ruth Carr's charge was a ready winner over seven furlongs at Ayr off a rating of 57 in July and was left with too much to do off a 5lb higher mark when last seen. That effort is definitely worth upgrading and he should be capable of going close, at the very least, off a rating of 62.
The selection was successful over this course and distance in May and has the same draw (stall 2) again on Sunday.
Jumeira Vision and Style Of Life should help set a decent pace, which will suit Makalu who surely only needs to avoid trouble in running to be involved in the finish.
3.40 Ripon: Cool Legend
Best odds: 2-1.
This three-year-old has shaped as though he is potentially ahead of his mark on a couple of occasions this season and looks to have a strong chance of getting back to winning ways here.
The son of Sea The Stars won a maiden on his final start last season, the form of which has worked out well, and shaped with promise in two strong handicaps on his return from being gelded this year.
He looked set to make the most of a drop in grade at Goodwood next time out (he touched 1.02 in running) but looked ungainly when hitting the front and essentially threw the race away. He's since finished a never-nearer fourth in a 0-85 handicap where he suffered traffic problems, and finished with running left in him.
His past two efforts certainly suggest he's capable of winning a race off a rating of 80, and cheekpieces are now applied, which should help him.
is a full brother to Sisyphus Strength, who is rated 96, and he's also a half-brother to a couple of other useful performers, including a Group Three winner, so his pedigree indicates there's plenty more to come, and William Haggas and Tom Marquand are in top form.
This trip and ground will be ideal, too, so there are plenty of positives.
