Solario Stakes at Sandown 'an obvious race' for Vintager

David Menuisier is leaning towards the Solario Stakes at Sandown as the next target for first-time-out maiden winner Vintager.
The Pulborough handler has not yet ruled out a tilt at the Acomb Stakes at York next Wednesday, but Menuisier is instead favouring the seven-furlong Group Three at the Esher track on September 2.
Vintager won by a length and a half at Newmarket on Friday, despite having unseated Kieran Shoemark on the way down to the start.
Menuisier said: "He looks like he could be useful but I don't know how good he is yet.
"He will have to prove himself in the next few weeks. He won in good style at Newmarket so it is fingers crossed.
"He is easy to train at home and could not be more straightforward. Unseating Kieran was completely out of character. I'd like to think that was down to greenness as I doubt he will do it again.
"My first thought after the race was the Acomb but that might come a bit quick. He has come out of the race well and is absolutely fine.
"The other obvious race is the Solario. We are probably leaning towards that as it gives him another week and the preliminaries at that track will be easier for him than at York if he was to show the same temperament he did at Newmarket."
