Racing at Chelmsford on Thursday evening was abandoned before a race was run due to heavy snow.Rain earlier in the afternoon changed to snow, which rapidly began to settle at the Essex circuit, which had been due to commence racing at 5.50.An inspection was called, with concerns not only over the track but also surrounding areas.A deputation of jockeys and trainers went on to the course and clerk Andy Waitt told At The Races before a formal announcement: "It's not looking good, we're just going back to the inquiry now and we'll make it official."I don't think we'll be racing in all honesty, it's health and safety issues."Trainer Derek Shaw had said: "I can't see this taking place at all, even if you get hold of the surface it is balling up in your hands. It's not safe, basically."
