1.35 Kempton: Golden Redemption
Tipster: Dave Nevison.
Best odds: 3-1.
Golden Redemption has only raced on turf since he came over to Britain, but he has all-weather form from Meydan, so I have no concerns about him adapting to the Kempton surface. If anything, it could be a positive for him.
The gelding has been a consistent performer for Andrew Balding and has never been beaten more than a couple of lengths, plus has finished in the frame every time he has raced.
He was surprisingly dropped down to six furlongs for his final start last season, and that distance proved too short.
He was staying on powerfully towards the finish and will definitely appreciate this step back up in trip. I think he looks a good bet off the same rating here.
2.08 Kempton: Anniversary
Tipster: Martin Dixon.
Best odds: 7-2.
At a best-priced 7-2, at the time of writing, I'm keen to give Anniversary a chance because, quite simply, I think he's comfortably the best handicapped contender in this field.
The sticking point is that he may be a bit of a monkey, and he has been beaten at short prices a few times now, but I'd still expect him to go off shorter than the current price. If everything clicks together, I could see him winning impressively.
Go back to his debut in 2024, he beat last year's St Leger winner Scandinavia, and then later that year he was second to the thrown-in Many Men in a Nursery, so there's no doubt in my mind he could be very well handicapped.
Blinkers are refitted, Jack Dace takes a further 5lb off, and I expect this will be run a stronger gallop than when he was an eye-catching fifth at Lingfield last time.
This is a bit of a last-chance saloon, given he's in danger of becoming expensive to follow but, given the set-up looks spot on, I'm happy to take the chance.
2.55 Meydan: Tuz
Tipster: Katie Midwinter.
Best odds: 13-2.
Repeat Of Two Years Ago On Cards
3.05 Curragh: Ten Bob Tony
Tipster: Johnny Ward.
Best odds: 9-2.
Johnny Ward's Nap Of The Day
4.45 Meydan: Forever Young
Tipster: Alex Scott.
Best odds: 4-7.
A fascinating race is in prospect, with many horses arriving in excellent form and several unknown quantities lining up, but they will all have to go some to beat the outstanding Japanese contender FOREVER YOUNG, who can make amends for last year's defeat.
The value for each-way punters could be with Imperial Emperor at 10-1, who can pick up the pieces if the favourite underperforms, with Simon and Ed Crisford's impressive recent winner Meydaan next preference.
Alex's verdict: 1 FOREVER YOUNG. 2 IMPERIAL EMPEROR. 3 MEYDAAN.
AND A BONUS SELECTION FROM ANGUS MCNAE!
12.20 Meydan: Commissioner King
Tipster: Angus McNae.
Best odds: 2-1.
