Ryan Moore looks set to ride Saxon Warrior in the Racing Post Trophy as Aidan O'Brien's plans take shape for the Group One contest at Doncaster on Saturday.
Saxon Warrior is vying for Investec Derby favouritism with stablemate The Pentagon, who is also in line to represent O'Brien on Town Moor, together with Dewhurst Stakes third Seahenge.
O'Brien is seeking a record-breaking 26th Group One winner of the year, having equalled Bobby Frankel's mark with Hydrangea at Ascot last weekend, and the Ballydoyle handler said: "I suppose it depends on the ground, but it looks like it is going to be nice. I suppose The Pentagon, Saxon Warrior, Seahenge - that is what we are thinking at the moment, and maybe Coat Of Arms."
He added: "Obviously that is not written in stone until the morning. I suppose Saxon Warrior has the most recent form and if that is the case then I would imagine Seamus (Heffernan) would ride The Pentagon and Donnacha (O'Brien) might stay on his horse from the Dewhurst (Seahenge).
"Things can change, but that is what is likely to happen, but I've not spoken to Ryan or anyone yet."
Charlie Appleby will rely on the once-raced Goodwood winner Loxley, who was supplemented at a cost of £17,500 on Monday, with Prix Jean-Luc Lagardere third Masar instead going to America for the Breeders' Cup.
Andrea Atzeni, meanwhile, is looking to Chilean to give him an incredible fifth successive win in the race.
Trained by Martyn Meade, Chilean has won two of his three starts to date, most recently taking a Listed event in facile style at Haydock.
Atzeni's golden run began through Kingston Hill in 2013, with Elm Park, Marcel and Rivet scoring for him subsequently.
"He's a good ride to get. On Sunday I didn't think I'd have a ride, but it's nice to get one like him," Atzeni told At The Races.
"He's definitely going the right way, he was very impressive last time at Haydock on very soft ground. Obviously he needs to improve again, but he is an improving horse and I'm looking forward to riding him on Saturday.
"It's been a very lucky race for me, to win four in a row is special and it would be nice to do it five times, so we'll have a go on Saturday."
