Tuesday tips: Dave Nevison's best bets at Taunton and Southwell

Top tipster Dave Nevison shares his three best bets for Tuesday's action, with two of his selections coming at Taunton - live on Racing TV.

2.45 Taunton: Newmill Getaway

Fergal O’Brien’s mare has been running consistently well on recent starts and looks capable of winning off a mark of 87.
Newmill Getaway’s consistency hasn’t helped her mark, but she has only been raised gradually in line with improved performances now she has been upped to this sort of trip.
She finished in front of a next time out winner on her latest effort at Huntingdon and a reproduction of that effort would see her go close at least. Her latest runs have been on very soft ground, but she has run well under today’s forecast conditions this season.
3.15 Taunton: Thistle Be The One

Thistle Be The One’s handicap mark has been dropping like a stone on the back of a run of disappointing performances this season, but the signs were better last time out (in a non handicap) and he could be ready to take advantage.
He was beaten, but not under duress when he made a bad mistake at the second last and wasn’t a factor afterwards, but he has now been dropped down to this 0-100 handicap after previously only ever contesting 0-120 grade events.
It is interesting that his two best runs over hurdles came at Taunton where he has finished runner-up on two occasions, most recently on good ground. Trainer Ben Clarke has thrown the kitchen sink as regards headgear and applied a visor as well as the tongue strap.
His front-running style is perfect for Taunton and he has a very good claiming rider in Toby McCain-Mitchell taking off 5lb, so this looks like his best opportunity.
4.30 Southwell: Karton Plein

Finished: PU SP: 7/2
The handicapper looks to have been generous in dropping Karton Plein 2lb off the back of a good effort last time out.
In-form trainer Olly Murphy looks to have found a good opportunity for the six-year-old to land his first handicap here running him off bottom weight with Champion Jockey Sean Bowen on board.
He broke his maiden at this course last February, so Southwell clearly suits him and the longer trip also suits him better this season.
