Saturday horse racing tips: Dave Nevison's best four bets

Betting expert Dave Nevison is sweet on a quartet in action at Newbury, Market Rasen and Cartmel - all live on Racing TV.
2.25 Newbury: Sweet William
John and Thady Gosden have yet another lightly raced type who switches to handicaps off what looks a lenient mark given his pedigree.
He is bred to be a stayer - and a very good one at that. His dam won over 2m and has already produced a dual Classic winner in Hurricane Lane, who won Irish Derby and St leger in 2021.
Sweet William is typical of staying horses produced by Normandie Stud and unsurprisingly has been slow to mature. He made his comeback over an inadequate trip at Southwell – though still ran well in defeat conceding lumps of weight to Saint George, who was subsequently runner-up in the Queen’s Vase, and was a winner of a minor contest at Doncaster last time out.
He is running off a rating of 88 and is stepped up to 2 miles for this handicap debut. Given his pedigree - and that of his trainers – he looks an absolute blot.

2.40 Market Rasen: Myristica
This mare was rated in the 90s on the Flat at her highest point, winning four handicaps for Tim Easterby.
She has won her past three races over hurdles (it probably should have been four) for her new trainer David Pipe, yet still looks well treated for her first handicap.
Myrstica is clearly used to running in competitive races on the Flat, so I am not concerned about her on that score especially as she jumps fluently. Given the way she dispatched a field of previous winners when odds-on last time, a plater’s mark of just 112 looks decidedly generous. It also gives the opportunity to highlight the new relationship between Pipe and Jack Tudor in a big summer event.
2.50 Cartmel: Horn Cape
Ben Haslam has his dual-purpose string in pretty good form and had a sprint handicap winners earlier this week.
Horn Cape has hopefully been freshened up after a disappointing run last time and the booking of Rachael Blackmore in a race like this certainly suggests a decent run is expected.
It seems very likely the ground is going to be right for Horn Cape, who had previously scored twice on heavy going and is clearly very effective in the mud.
He is only 3lb higher than when he won last time and, given he was well regarded for a time at Nicky Henderson’s yard, he could still have improvement in him for the Haslam yard.
3.15 Market Rasen: Born Famous
Born Famous was anything but when racing in Ireland, achieving little.
However, the English handicapper still bumped her up 15lb from her Irish mark when she made her debut for Iain Jardine back in April.
That run came over hurdles and she bolted up at 20/1, obviously surprising most people. She has since rattled up three more wins, alternating hurdling and chasing, and is clearly a very versatile type.
She was 1/3 when easily beating a small field last Sunday and, even with a 5lb penalty, she is still bottom weight here. A mark of 115 certainly looks very workable and the booking of Harry Cobden riding one so far down the weights absolutely leaps off the page.
