Robin Dickin could not resist giving Thomas Crapper an entry in the Topham Chase at Aintree following his fine effort at the Cheltenham Festival.
Though he believes that race on April 7 over the
Grand National fences might come too soon, the Alcester handler felt he ought to at least have the option.
A handicap chase back at Cheltenham two weeks later would be the obvious alternative target.
Dickin reported Thomas Crapper to be understandably fatigued after he finished fourth behind Road To Respect in the Brown Advisory & Merriebelle Stable Plate Handicap Chase
"He is quite tired but he did have two races in 12 days," said Dickin.
"I have entered him in the Topham, just as an entry, but my guess at this stage is that he is more likely to go back to Cheltenham in April. I haven't got that far, though.
"I nearly didn't enter him but then I couldn't resist it. I thought we need to have a look."
