Richard Fahey expects the northern racing community to get fully behind Paul Hanagan as the jockey returns to his roots in 2017.Replaced in the role as Sheikh Hamdan Al Maktoum's retained rider by current champion Jim Crowley, Hanagan'stime in Newmarket yielded Group One wins on Taghrooda, Mukhadram and champion sprinter Muhaarar. Hanagan, who has been crowned champion jockey twice, will now return to Yorkshire to continue his career and whilean immediate bid to reclaim his title might be asking a lot as he will not have the role he was used to at Fahey's, he is still second favourite behind Silvestre de Sousa. "Paul was keen to come home and I was never going to say no," said Fahey."There's not just Tony (Hamilton) I've to think about, though, I've got six or seven jockeys I use regularly."Obviously, though, it's great to have him back - we have a great working relationship."He was twice champion jockey before he left, so I'm not sure you can say he'll be a better jockey now."Whether it might be asking a bit much to be champion again straight away, I don't know, but I'd like to think the north will get right behind him once again."
