After finishing third on debut at Nottingham on ground softer than ideal over 6f, Roger Varian stepped The Lost Sock down to the minimum trip for Saturday's assignment and was sent off the 7-2 second favourite in a field of eight.
Ridden prominently by Silvestre de Sousa, he grabbed a narrow lead over the pace-setting favourite Rikki Tiki Tavi entering the final furlong, but Kevin Ryan's gelding pulled out slightly more in the closing stages to deny The Lost Sock by a head. The pair stretched two lengths clear of the third.
"A smashing little horse!" - listen to what Silvestre de Sousa had to say after The Lost Sock's encouraging performance.
