Plans on the 'back-burner' for Stormy Antarctic after gelding operation

Wed 16 Aug 2017

Plans for Stormy Antarctic are on hold after the four-year-old was gelded following a poor performance in the Lennox Stakes at Glorious Goodwood.

Not only did the four-year-old finish last of 13 behind Breton Rock, but his behaviour that day forced connections to take drastic action in the hope of getting last year's Craven Stakes winner back on track.

"The frustrating run continues," said trainer Ed Walker.

"Sadly for him he's now been gelded. We think it was the right thing to do and it will help him going forward. All plans are on the back-burner at the moment,

"He tried to bite a few horses in the Lennox and we ran him a couple of times in blinkers as we felt he wasn't concentrating.

"We're just going to regroup and probably step him back up to a mile and give him a bit of time and see."
