Placepot Pointers: Tips, trends and a placepot banker for Exeter on Tuesday

The Placepot dividend at Wolverhampton on Monday paid a whopping £1,190.60 to a £1 stake, and the Tote racing team are aiming to crack the placepot at Exeter on Tuesday.

We head to Exeter on Tuesday for a very competitive card of National Hunt racing. The opening six races provide a stern test for Placepot punters. Not only have we got a whole host of pointers to help you on your way, but with our Placepot Insurance offer, we’ll give you your money back up to £10 if you are eliminated in the first leg. T&Cs apply.
How’s the going?
Things are starting to dry up over the country and the going at Exeter has been confirmed as soft, good to soft in places. However, there is rain due in the 24 hours prior to racing and it is likely to be continuing throughout the day on Tuesday.
The Big Trend:
Sometimes it is very difficult to stay away from Harry Cobden and Paul Nicholls. They really are a combination to keep onside at Exeter. They have 7 wins already this season from 14 rides that they combine together. They pair up for three more runners on Tuesday.
2:15 - Bembridge
2:45 - Show On The Road
4:15 - Chavez
Placepot Banker:
The Placepot Banker at Exeter looks to come in the third race of the day with ASTIGAR (Leg 3, 2:15). David Pipe is having a really good time of things at the moment and has managed five winners from his previous 21 runners, and Astigar could be another good one. He was backed into a very short price in a bumper, but he looked desperate for a hurdle. The winner has gone on to score another one so the form is looking quite good. Patroclus may have bumped into a good one at Warwick but the Henderson stable hasn’t necessarily been firing on all cylinders recently and we’re willing to take him on.
Tom Scudamore is boasting a 20% win record from the previous two weeks, so this combination looks to be a strong pairing.
Outsider to Consider:
The second race at Exeter is a Novices’ Chase for five-year-olds plus. The field is very talented with Full Back and Welsh Saint the two who set the standards. However, with just two places available, this is one where a lot of units can be tripped up. DOLPHIN SQUARE (Leg 2, 13:45) doesn’t look to be too far away from the others on ability. Prior to his last run when he was pulled up, he had only finished outside of the places once in his previous ten races and there may be even more to come this time over hurdles.
However, after a slog at Haydock, Philip Hobbs feels now is the time for his son of Shantou to try his luck over fences and he has always looked a chaser in the making. Three miles will be no problem and he looks the one that they have to beat this time.
Torpedo Leg:
The fourth race of the day is one which really could knock out an awful lot of units. Sexy Lot and Majestic Merlin head the market, however, one is based on consistency and the other on one good performance at Wincanton last time out.
We are opting to go for two outsiders here in HERE’S HERBIE (Leg 4, 2:45) and GIVE US A SWIG. The former is a punt on the oldest horse in the race. A three-time winner at this track and he looks to come into this race off a very competitive mark. The latter is one that will be a prospect for the future for the Brooks’. The form from his 16L defeat to Wilde About Oscar is very strong and this looks to be much more winnable than previous races.
Our Placepot Perm:
Leg 1: Midnight Callisto, Lagonda
Leg 2: Dolphin Square
Leg 3: Astigar
Leg 4: Give Us A Swig, Here’s Herbie
Leg 5: Neetside, Jobesgreen Lad
Leg 6: Ballybreen, Don Herbager
2 x 1 x 1 x 2 x 2 x 2 = 16 lines
