Presenter Peter Naughton has three more horses to put in your Racing UK tracker
Beyond The Clouds bolted up in the 2m novices' hurdle at Musselburgh last Wednesday, despite not jumping with complete fluency.
Still learning, Kevin Ryan's classy gelding scored in two of three bumpers and the form of his impressive Kelso hurdles debut has been boosted.
Travelling well, the unexposed four-year-old eased to a wide-margin victory on suitably good ground. Bookmakers offered a wide range of odds for the Supreme Novices' Hurdle at Cheltenham but it's early days and connections would love to win a big prize on the Flat with him.
I was presenting at Nottingham with pundit, and daughter of the trainer, Amy Ryan, who told me: “This horse is a machine.”
In the same race, Kelpies Myth caught the eye finishing well in third.
Lucinda Russell's four-year-old won a bumper on similarly good ground and has chased home
Beyond The Clouds in both starts over hurdles.
Keen early and racing in mid-division, the gelded son of Dutch Art chased the leaders four out and although soon outpaced, stayed on into third without looking likely to get anywhere near the impressive winner. Look out for Kelpies Myth in handicaps.
On Saturday, I interviewed Richard Johnson on Racing UK and the champion jockey made it clear he had come to
Aintree to ride
Louis' Vac Pouch.
Racing keenly in the extended 3m contest, the unexposed five-year-old was held up in last but made headway approaching two out.
He closed on the leaders before the last and ran on gamely to assert on the run-in.
This fine son of Oscar pulled clear with Forza Milan (Jonjo O'Neill had been bullish about his five-year-old's chance when I interviewed him too) and there is more to come.
Louis' Vac Pouch had not raced over this trip before, so the final of this series will be high on his agenda.
