Naughton's Notebook: "She will be very exciting after one more run"

Naughton's Notebook: "She will be very exciting after one more run"

Peter Naughton's new column - Naughton's Notebook! The Racing TV presenter reveals the horses who caught his eye over the last week, aiming to identify winners in waiting. Make sure you add each horse to your Racing TV Tracker
How many times have presenters and pundits in horse racing advised adding a horse to the notebook or tracker?
The phrase is uttered daily, yet I'd wager less than five per cent of punters keep a notebook, or add those horses to their trackers.
The viewer might make a mental note, only to watch in frustration as the horse wins without investment because the name wasn't diligently logged.
Naughton's Notebook does that job for you. I advise following those listed for two runs, unless otherwise stated. Horses are trained for specific races at various times, and catching them in the sweet spot when the handicap rating and/or ground conditions are ideal provides a significant edge.
If a horse is beaten for a reason when fancied by connections, an entry in the notebook is very often an indicator of imminent victory.
It's a privilege to be able to share Naughton's Notebook with Racing TV members, and here's to plenty of success. Enjoy!
The Racing TV Tracker is also an essential for racing fans, and you can add an unlimited number of your favourite horses.

Molo Del Palazzo

Race: Sixth in the Sky Sports Racing Virgin 512 Novice Stakes at Lingfield (Tuesday)
Molo Del Palazzo was a significant eye-catcher in the 1m three-year-old novice at Lingfield on Tuesday.
The classy daughter of Palace Pier, who was taking on colts, was returning from 252 days off and stepping up from 7f.
She was towards rear but made headway from over a furlong out after being nudged along.
Molo Del Palazzo will be very exciting after one more run.

Sibling Rivelry

Race: First in the Track Radio On Digital & DAB Fillies' Handicap at Windsor (Monday)
Sibling Rivelry justified strong support (6-1 into 7-2) in the fillies' handicap at Windsor on Monday.
Returning from 202 days off, David Simcock's four-year-old was slowly away from a wide berth in stall ten and held up in rear.
Pushed along to make headway over two-out, she was denied a clear run over a furlong out but led inside the last one hundred yards.  Sibling Rivelry has won four of her last six starts and can win again.

Moon Mission

Race: First in the Sean Murphy Plant Hire Ltd. Rated Novice Hurdle at Cork (Sunday)
On Sunday, Moon Mission benefited from a drop to 2m in the novices' hurdle at Cork.
The capable son of Sea The Moon pressed the pace and was ridden to lead narrowly before two-out. He kept on well and can remain competitive when reverting to handicaps. A return to further is also an option.
Moon Mission had been fancied a week earlier but was withdrawn lame.
The five-year-old was third in a big field at Punchestown on handicap debut two months ago and would have finished closer granted a clear passage.

Wine Dark Sea

Race: First in the Peroni Nastro Azzurro 0.0% Italy Handicap at Ascot (Saturday)
Wine Dark Sea confirmed himself very progressive when winning the 1m4f handicap at Ascot on Saturday.
Harry Charlton's classy four-year-old was never far off the pace and made headway to lead two-out.
The well-bred son of Ulysses was ridden clear and kept on well with the promise of more to come.
Wine Dark Sea will improve.

Moscow Power & Secret Santa

Race: Third and first in the Ascot Hospitality Handicap at Ascot (Friday)
A day earlier, Moscow Power deserves credit for a close third to Secret Santa in the 6f three-year-old handicap.
Mick Appleby's gelding, who was making his handicap debut off 78, switched left at the start and made headway from rear against the near rail two-out.  He kept on, having tracked all the way across from stall six.
Moscow Power was well backed and could soon recover losses.
Richard Hannon is doing a fine job of improving Secret Santa. The quality son of Lucky Vega was towards rear but made headway two-out and went second at the furlong pole, before getting up near the line.
He was only three lengths behind subsequent Windsor Castle winner Havana Hurricane twelve months ago on debut and then third to future Chesham winner Humidity at Newbury.
Secret Santa can build on this winning handicap debut off 81.

Ryebridge

Race: First in the Victor Lucas Memorial Handicap Hurdle at Market Rasen (Friday)
Also on Friday, Ryebridge confirmed his place in the notebook when stepping up to 2m7f at Market Rasen.
Sue Smith & Joel Parkinson's progressive six-year-old pressed market leader Coumeenoole, despite lacking fluency two-out.
The pair went clear on the run-in and Ryebridge displayed a very willing attitude.
The winner was similarly brave when dead-heating over 2m3f at Carlisle two outings ago.
Parkinson revealed: "He's still green and learning. He came on a lot for his handicap debut Doncaster and will come on a lot for this too."
Joel Parkinson spoke to Racing TV at Market Rasen

Jonny Concrete & Secret Guest

Race: Third and sixth in the Tom Jones Live At Chester Racecourse Handicap at Chester (Friday)
Jonny Concrete covered more ground than most when a close third in the 6f handicap at Chester on Friday.
Iain Jardine's five-year-old was in touch with the leaders on the outer and kept on well inside the final furlong.
He couldn't catch Rosenpur, who made all on a day favouring front-runners.
In the same race, Secret Guest was very unfortunate in sixth.
Bryan Smart's six-year-old was in touch with the leaders from stall three but hampered in the last 100 yards.
Paul Mulrennan confirmed his mount was denied a clear run, and, beaten only three lengths, Secret Guest has dropped to a fair mark.

Dance In The Storm & Sujet

Race: Third and sixth in the Roodee Handicap at Chester (Wednesday)
Two days earlier, Dance In The Storm proved herself well ahead of the assessor when delivered late to land the 7f handicap at Chester.
Badly drawn in stall 11, Oisin Murphy's mount was keen in midfield on the outer but made headway over a furlong out before passing long-time leader Sujet.
The winning filly, who was giving weight to geldings, can defy another rise and should easily pick up some ‘black type’.
The runner-up Sujet ran a mighty race and was clear of the third.
Breaking well from stall seven, Zak Wheatley's mount set steady fractions and skipped clear off the home turn. He was unfortunate to meet such a well handicapped winner and remains lightly raced.
He had good form in Ireland and ran well at Newmarket on reappearance a month ago.
