Owen Burrows has high hopes for Wadilsafa following Ascot bow

Owen Burrows has hinted Wadilsafa could be in line for a crack at the Autumn Stakes at Newmarket later in the season.

The son of Frankel found only Herculean, the full-brother to Fair Eva, too good on debut at Ascot in conditions that his trainer felt were not ideal for the colt.

Wadilsafa hails from the same dam as his Group Three-winning stablemate Talaayeb, and Burrows is now looking to break his maiden tag next time out before a potential step up in class.

He said: "He's another of mine who wants really nice ground, but there weren't many opportunities for him over seven furlongs coming up, so we thought we'd take our chance and I was very pleased with him.

"That whole family don't like it soft so we'll look for better ground next time and maybe step him up to a mile.

"If he won his maiden or novice nicely and time allowed it, then we may look at something better for him. The Royal Lodge will come too quickly, but something like the Autumn Stakes at Newmarket in October could be a possibility.

"Anything he does this year is a bonus as he is a nice horse for next season. We certainly won't overface him."
