Ben Pauling has confirmed Dougie Gittens does not intend to appeal against the 10-day ban he incurred in the Eildon Hill Stables Open Hunters' Chase at Kelso on Sunday.Riding the Pauling-trained Dolatulo, Gittens was making rapid progress in the final furlong when he eased up shortly before the line to be beaten a length and a quarter. It transpired Gittens had mistaken the winning post and Pauling believes the incident will prove a valuable learning experience for the rider. "I don't think we'll appeal, we'll leave it as it is," Pauling told RUK. "Dougie will have learned a lot from it, it was a genuine mistake. He knows he didn't do the right thing and he's very sorry for that."People learn, he just mistook the starter's steps for the winning post, professionals have done it in the past."
