4.50 Hamilton: Sod Hall Lane

Finished: 1stSP: 11/8

Karl Burke has won two of the last four runnings of this maiden, and Clifford Lee is on Royal Strike for the first time, so it would be no great surprise to see the Thirsk third go off favourite ahead of Bacha – who also filled that spot over the same C&D last month – and Sod Hall Lane, but the last-named looks the bet.

Quite an expensive purchase for the yard, he showed plenty of speed and grit when battling on for second at Musselburgh despite being sent off at 20-1 in a five-runner race. The winner has since won again (easily at Chepstow), and the Declan Carroll-trained colt can follow in his footsteps.

5.20 Hamilton: Impressor

Finished: 12thSP: 7/1

Lumenbourg and Iris Dancer should ensure that this 0-65 is run at a strong tempo which will suit the dangerously well-treated Impressor whose connections quickly swap out the visor tried last time for his usual cheekpieces which he has worn for his last five wins.

The return to soft ground will suit the Philip Makin-trained sprinter and this streetwise nine-year-old - three times a C&D winner – knows how to win when the mud is flying.

5.50 Hamilton: Perseus Way

Perseus Way became his former trainer Stuart Coltherd's first Flat winner for nine years when landing this race 12 months ago, but the wins have been much more regular for this dual-purpose performer who has been in great form for Tristan Davidson since returning in May.

As well as two victories at Hexham, he's added another C&D win to his name and is clearly very much at home in testing ground on a testing track; he gets both here and could be too battle-hardened for the less-exposed three-year-old filly Clocker.

7.20 Hamilton: Penelope's Sister

Finished: 6thSP: 6/1

There doesn't look to be much pace on in this mile handicap and that could play into the hands of Penelope's Sister whose best efforts have come when ridden prominently.

She's not always the quickest of starters, meaning she has often been held up, but even a slow beginning might not stop Shay Farmer being able to set his own fractions on a mare whose last two wins have come from the front on soft ground. She's now 8 lb below the most recent of those.
