Master Man made all the running to see off Capability Brown in the Criterium International at Saint Cloud.
The Aidan O'Brien-trained runner-up was sent off the 13-8 favourite for the Group One over a mile and was never far from the fairly sedate gallop set by Anthony Crastus on the Richard Chotard-trained winner.
The race turned into a bit of a dash as they straightened for home, and it was the son of Goken who had enough in hand to see off the recent Leopardstown winner.
The winning rider, who, like the trainer was recording a first Group One win, said: "I was very confident with him as he won easily at Longchamp.
"With the track being very soft today I knew he would like the ground and he's improving with each race. He's a nice horse and will be even better next year.
"I think he will stay [the 10f trip of the Prix du Jockey Club] but I think Richard will run him in the Poule d'Essai des Poulains before that."
The Godolphin runner First Law was one of the first off the bridle and was well-held, with Aix La Chapelle – a stablemate of the runner-up – an eye-catching third having been held up a long way off the pace by Christophe Soumillon.
O'Brien was bidding for an eighth win in the race, while Soumillon - who rode last year's winner Puerto Rico - was hoping to secure a sixth success.
