I like Tarriance in the Ebor. I think he is very progressive horse, more so than his form figures suggest. We’ve seen enough of him now to know that these big handicap races, where he has a lot of pace to aim at, suit him really well. The races at York and Ascot earlier in the season didn’t suit him in terms of tempo, but this will.
His handicap record is really progressive. At Goodwood last time out, he was coming off a two-and-a-half-month break and it showed in the final furlong. Watching him in that race, I immediately thought, they are getting him ready for the Ebor and he needed that run. He went through the race on the bridle, took it up travelling really well two furlongs out and then just got tired. I think the Ebor is the big target for Tarriance. He won the Melrose over course and distance last season – I think there’s an awful lot in his favour.
