Martin Dixon's Saturday tips: "I think he can win this comfortably"

A disappointing turnout for a high-value handicap, but it looks a great opportunity for the progressive Thunder Call to get his head back in front. 

At 11-8, he's not a big price, but I'm still happy to back at odds against in what doesn't look a strong race. His form is strong and progressive, and all year he's been shaping like there's even more to come stepping up to seven furlongs, which he's now granted. An entry in the Group One Champions Sprint underlines the regard in which he's held, and I think he can win this comfortably before going onto better things. 

Michael Herrington is a dab hand at getting his handicappers to hold their form when they find it, and Nikovo showed that he's really thriving when winning easily on turf at Newmarket last time out. 

His all-weather record is excellent, and he excels when getting a fast pace to aim at, which looks on the cards here. He's well drawn in stall four, and with Oisin Murphy aboard, I'd expect another very good run. 

He's 8-1, at the time of writing, and I'll be having a good each-way bet at those odds.

On his only recent try over six furlongs, Marvelman ran a blinder to be beaten only by Paborus in the Chipchase at Newcastle in June, conceding 5lb to the winner that day, and I'm hopeful dropping back to a sprint trip on testing ground could trigger a career-best performance.He went with loads of zest making much of the running in the City of York to show that he remains in top form and plenty of the field in this year's Sprint Cup arrive with something to prove.
