5.05 Newmarket: Night On Earth
I think that Night On Earth, who has dropped to a mark in the 60s for the first time in over 18 months, is of significant interest in this 0-70 handicap.
He's going to find this a much easier race to dominate than he has done in much higher grades on recent starts.
He's a horse with stacks of early speed and I think he'll be able to get away from his rivals through the first half of the race at a track that suits front runners.
At this level, and against this opposition, I think that speed will be used to much better effect compared to his recent outings, and he's won multiple times over five furlongs.
He likes having the emphasis on speed, which there should be at this track, and looks to have everything stacked in his favour here.
5.15 Thirsk: Insuspense
She's a filly that has had two starts in handicaps so far over seven furlongs, and she's impressed with how strongly she has travelled.
I believe she has given every indication that she's on a competitive mark, and both of those handicap runs have produced subsequent winners, so I think she has been involved in strong races.
I think she will be comfortable dropping back to six furlongs, and it looks to me that there will be a strong gallop on here with the likes of Miss Rainbow, Stormy Pearl and A Girl Named Ivy, who like to get on with things, in the field.
That should suit this hold-up filly, and she's my nap of the day on Saturday.
7.30 Hamilton: Moonstone Boy
I'm going to take a chance on Moonstone Boy bouncing back to form here. They left the blinkers off him when he ran in the Scottish Stewards' Cup on his most recent start, and I think that race was a bit too competitive for him.
He's back in a small field here, and he has got a good record in small-field contests at
Hamilton over the past 12 months. He's also worn blinkers for his past three victories, so the fact connections took them off last time out was probably a negative. They are re-applied now.
This does not look the strongest contest, and a lot of his rivals have not been at their best recently. The handicapper has also given Moonstone Boy a chance, and he is now just 2lb higher than his latest victory, which was an easy success at Carlisle in May.
The set up of this race, the track, the small field, and the blinkers are all positives for him, and I'm expecting a big run.
