Top tipster Martin Dixon reveals his best bets for the action across the Curragh, Nottingham and Newbury on Saturday, with his NAP of the day running in the Hallgarten And Novum Wines Hackwood Stakes.
2.15 Curragh: Nyra
One Look will understandably be popular having won this Group Three last year, and she undoubtedly has a strong chance dropping back in grade.
However, she's priced up accordingly, and I think Nyra is a big danger plus is overpriced at 9-2, at the time of writing.
Joseph O'Brien works wonders with these fillies, and Nyra has run two encouraging races since joining him from Germany. At Cork last time out, she came up against the progressive three-year-old Sparan Nua, and went very strongly through the race, quickening well and battling to the line, despite the jockey having dropped his whip.
I expect a drop back in distance to be a big positive for Nyra, and she's very straightforward tactically. Hopefully she will sit handily in what could be a bit of a muddling race tactically.
2.50 Curragh: Dark Ace
Ado McGuinness runs three in this year's Scurry, including last year's winner Go Athletico, but it's the progressive Dark Ace from the yard that interests me most.
He hit a lull in form last summer but hasn't looked back since winning after a short break at Naas last October, progressing well in some highly competitive sprints, and he shaped very well dropped to the minimum trip at this track on his most recent start, staying on strongly.
The return to 6f is certain to suit and he's very genuine and consistent.
3.02 Newbury: Soldier's Tree (NAP)
Although he hasn't got a win on the board yet since switching from Ireland, Soldier's Tree has made a very positive start for James Owen's yard with an eye-catching third at Salisbury when meeting trouble and finishing less than a length behind the Group One winner Almeraq, then under a big weight he ran a blinder to be third in the Wokingham last month.
He's swiftly reached a high standard in only five career starts and I think there's a lot more to come from this late-maturing son of Soldier's Call.
Song of The Clyde should give him a lead from the next-door stall and I think Soldier's Tree will take plenty of stopping. 11/4 at the time of writing appeals as a good price.
8.43 Nottingham: Everyoneknowsadave
Jessica Macey hasn't saddled a winner yet in 2026 from 109 runners but the recent stable form is much more positive with three seconds from five runners so far in July and Everyoneknowsadave's last two efforts have both suggested he's ready to win.
At Pontefract on his penultimate start he stayed on well despite having a wide trip, then at Leicester the thriving Oasis Sunrise got first run on him but he again he kept on well.
This is a very winnable race and crack apprentice Ashley Lewis takes over in the plate to take off a valuable 5lbs.
