Lingfield jumps card succumbs to frost

This afternoon's jumps fixture at Lingfield has been abandoned due to a frozen track.Officials at the Surrey track knew their fate shortly before an intended 8am precautionary inspection as overnight temperatures dropped to a shuddering minus 5.5C.Lingfield's executive added in a statement that it "was not due to rise above freezing until 11am", with a maximum high of just 2.5C throughout the day.
