Thursday tips: Dave Nevison shares his three best bets

Alan King’s gelding was a beaten favourite last time, but has come back strong after longer absences in the past. A flat right-handed track suits him well judged on good runs at Wincanton, so Ludlow could well be an ideal track for him.

He has been dropped 1lb since the latest run and, given he is related to middle-distance hurdle winners, this afternoon’s step up in trip to that distance might suit him well.

The Alan King yard is going well at present and Tom Bellamy has been on board for both runs this season.

Iain Jardine did really well with this low-grade performer and got him first past the post in three handicaps at the back end of last season, though he ended up getting demoted in the last of them.

Dingwall has remained in very good form this year and has finished a close  second on his two latest outings and is ready to go one better.

The five-year-old definitely looks capable of winning off a mark in the low 60s and, having run well over this course and distance recently, this could well be his chance to win a race in 2026.

Things have not well for Stratusnine in two runs this year, including when I tipped him last time. He had to use up too much energy to get to the lead and, on what was effectively his first run of the year, (unseated at the start on his first run) he ran out of fuel in the straight.

He has been dropped 1lb for that run last time, but I don’t think he needs that as he ran well enough to suggest he can win off higher judged on his second in a hot handicap at Wolverhampton.

The six-furlong trip looks ideal and, given he should have no problem taking up a forward position on this straight track, he could make all the running and hold on.
