It has been a huge weekend of racing which saw some brilliant performances in Britain and Ireland. Some stars to look out for.
We return to calmer waters this monday at Kempton Park, where there is a very good looking card on offer.
Shishkin will be making his long awaited return and he may feature on the Placepot perm below.
How’s the going?
Despite huge amounts of rainfall over the last week, the going at Kempton has been declared as good. However, keep an eye out for a change as there is more rainfall may come over the course of Sunday evening. The weather forecast is expected to be dry on Monday which is ideal for bringing out the best performers on the day.
The Big Trend
Over the last five seasons, no jockey has managed to get more victories than Nico de Boinville with 26. He amassed them in 111 rides obtaining a strike rate of 23%. That, in hand, means Nicky Henderson has the most winst this track in the last five seasons as well. 52 in 200 runners is very good going and today they combine with three horses today in Captain Morgs (12:50pm, Leg 1), Shishkin (13:25, Leg 2), and Crystal Gazing (15:10, Leg 5).
Placepot Banker
Many will think that we would have picked the Supreme winner here, Shishkin, but we still have not seen him jump a fence. Instead we are siding with the Martin Pipe winners, Indefatigable (14:00, Leg 2). She had a go on the flat but that didn’t exactly go to plan, however, she will be fitter for it. She comes seeking a hat trick over the hurdles and she certainly sets the benchmark here for the rest of the field. Cill Anna is the one to look out for but She has a lot to prove.
Outsider to Consider
Fergal O’Brien has been in cracking form this season and Templepark (14:35, Leg 3) can add to his tally of 55 winners this season at Kempton. He is yet to finish outside the tip three this season in six attempts and quite rightly, Fergal wants to keep the ball rolling. His mark took a hit with a win at Warwick but there is still more to come from this seven-year-old and it would be no surprise to see him in the 140s by the end of the year.
Torpedo Leg
The penultimate leg of the Tote Placepot is one that could catch quite a few people out. Ratfacemcdougall arrives in cracking form having finished second and then winning at Musselburgh last time out. He seems to travel better on good ground which is why he may get caught out today.
Taking Nicky Henderson’s record with Nico de Boinville at this track into consideration, Crystal Gazing (15:10, Leg 5) could be one to surprise a few and get in the frame in the fifth race. He has recorded some promising figures and is only five-years-old meaning there is so much room for improvement.
