2.20 York: Act Of Kindness (E/W)

At the early 12-1 available, Act Of Kindness makes each-way appeal for Charlie Appleby, despite the yard’s recent quiet spell.
The daughter of Siyouni is a half-sister to Ylang Ylang, who was suited by some cut in the ground and put in the best performance of her career over a mile in softer conditions to claim Group One success.
The step up in trip in ground slower than her third in the Nell Gwyn Stakes at Newmarket could allow this 3,700,000gns purchase to return to winning ways and she appears overpriced at current odds, capable of faring better than the market suggests under William Buick. She has already proven she can be competitive in Group Three company, therefore shouldn’t be discounted in this Listed race.

2.40 Newbury: Hand Of God

Five-year-old gelding Hand Of God put in a creditable effort in his first outing for 280 days over a mile at Newbury last month. He travelled well into the race but couldn’t sustain his challenge late on, eventually finishing seventh, just behind Tony Montana.
Now with the benefit of a recent run in his favour, the Harry Charlton-trained contender could be tough to beat as he drops in class from a 1lb lower mark. The step back up in trip should also suit considering his last win came over a mile-and-a-quarter at Royal Ascot, and he could have too much class for his rivals in this field.

2.55 York: Tony Montana (E/W)

The Kevin Philippart De Foy-trained Tony Montana finished a close second behind Thunder Run in this race last year from the same mark of 96. The weight difference is the same with the winner this time around, and he holds solid claims once again on the back of a decent return to action on yard debut.
The son of Kingman, who was previously trained by Michael Bell, performed with credit in his seasonal return at Newbury when last seen, finishing sixth in a competitive handicap over a mile. The step back up in trip with the benefit of race fitness on his side should allow him to pose a dangerous threat in this contest as he seeks redemption for a narrow defeat twelve months ago.
On a workable mark with course form in this race, Tony Montana is one to note at the general 7-1, capable of putting in a bold bid.

5.35 Newbury: Armstrong

With a string of second-placed efforts to his name, Armstrong could finally finish with his head in front and shed his maiden tag as he steps up to a mile-and-a-quarter for the first time. He appears on a workable mark and there is some substance to his form.
On reappearance at Kempton earlier this season, the son of Starman was denied only a length by Blues And Royals, now rated 80. He has been seen staying on well over a mile, therefore the extra couple of furlongs could see him to better effect and he has shown to possess enough ability to be able to get off the mark at this level.

6.55 Aintree: Fortunedefortunata (E/W)

Fortunedefortunata didn’t run his race at Perth when last seen, but has previously put in an excellent effort when third at odds of 100-1 in a Haydock handicap. He’s 1lb lower rated here with Charlie Maggs returning in the saddle, claiming 3lb once again, and has an each-way chance if able to return to form.
Formerly trained by Gordon Elliott, the gelding won a competitive Grand National Trial for Cullentra last year, beating tough opponents and proving his class. He may be worth keeping the faith in for current trainer Patrick Morris, as he has performed to a high level previously and has shown he retains ability recently.
One to note each-way, Fortunedefortuna can bounce back and appears well-treated at the weights if performing to the best of his ability.
