Karl Burke vies for Morny glory with Havana Grey and Unfortunately

Karl Burke is excited at the prospect of his two-pronged attack with Havana Grey and Unfortunately in the Darley Prix Morny at Deauville on Sunday.

Both horses have earned their place in this six-furlong Group One, with Unfortunately landing the Prix Robert Papin on his latest start and Havana Grey winning the Molecomb at Glorious Goodwood.

"Both horses are in great order," said the Middleham trainer.

"We are very happy with them. We are hoping for good runs from both.

"It looks a tough race. Although there aren't many colts in the race, there are some good fillies in there and looks to be plenty of pace as well, which will make it interesting.

"Havana Grey is a very high-class horse. The key is now if he can reproduce that form over the extra distance.

"Before the Molecomb I would have been sceptical, but he was going away from the other horses at the end in very slow ground so there is a bit of hope.

"Unfortunately will like the extra half furlong up from the Papin.

"The race could well be run to suit him if there is a real fast pace to aim at."

Havana Grey is a best-priced 9-1 with William Hill to land the Group One, with Unfortunately at 11 with Sky Bet.

One of those fillies Burke is referring to is the unbeaten Different League, who is given her chance against the colts after winning the Albany Stakes at Royal Ascot and is the general 5-2 favourite.

Trainer Matthieu Palussiere said: "Taking on the colts is obviously something new she will have to face.

"The filly is very well. Everything has gone well since Ascot. Her last piece of work was very good.

"The question now is taking on other good fillies and the colts also.

"The ground shouldn't be an issue. It's fingers crossed."

Nyaleti is set to take her chance rather than wait for the Lowther Stakes at York on Thursday.

Mark Johnston's filly romped home by five lengths in the Princess Margaret Stakes at Ascot last month and will be ridden by James Doyle.
