Our Irish expert found 8-1 and 9-2 winners from three tips on Saturday and has three more selections for Sunday
The ground was drying out at the Curragh on Saturday after Jim Bolger’s incredible one-two in the Irish 2000 Guineas but more rain is forecast.
There looks an outstanding candidate in Sunday’s Tattersalls 1000 Guineas and, despite concern about her absence since October, I cannot resist her.
2.40 Curragh: Broome
I love the way this horse goes about his business and he’s really strong at the end of his races over this trip. He has nothing to fear from Helvic Dream and the ground is a definite concern for one or two of the main runners here. He’s by far the most solid and should win.
3.15 Curragh: Pretty Gorgeous
The only worry ahead of her run in the Irish 1000 Guineas is that we haven’t seen her yet at three but, described as “an outstanding physical specimen” when she last ran at Newmarket, she couldn’t be more made for a test like this. I rate her an odds-on shot if we can rest assured she has trained on. The market will be interesting.
4.20 Curragh: Fill The Power
Predictably, I have tipped this horse twice this season when he failed to perform (unlucky on one occasion); then he duly almost won at 40-1 last time. Like many by the sire, I think he’s better on this ground, and he has Colin Keane in the plate. He should go very well.
