Joe Murphy has major Flat races in mind for Swamp Fox

Swamp Fox could revert to the Flat following his heartbreaking defeat in Thursday's Galway Hurdle.
After filling the runner-up spot in the Connacht Hotel (Q.R.) Handicap on Monday evening, the five-year-old was sent back into action just three days later by trainer Joe Murphy and looked set to prevail until being caught in the shadows of the post by the Joseph O'Brien-trained Tigris River and Barry Geraghty.
Murphy is justifiably proud of his gelding's efforts and hopes he will enjoy his day in the sun before the end of the season, with both the Cesarewitch at Newmarket and the Irish equivalent under consideration.
"I thought we had it, but that's Galway and it was Geraghty at his best," the trainer told At The Races.
"It is what it is and we were second in the Galway Hurdle. Maybe he'll be back here next year again.
"We have a couple of options. We were thinking of the English Cesarewitch and the Irish Cesarewitch and there's the mile and a half handicap in Leopardstown on Champions Weekend. We also have him in the Ebor, but on the ratings I don't think he'll get in.
"Options are open for him, but the two Cesarewitchs look ideal races for him."
