The 143rd running of the Derby Italiano, due off at 4:50 BST, will be shown on Racing TV on Tuesday, along with the Group Three Premio Presidente Della Repubblica at 3.30. Both races will have English commentary.
A field of 15 colts, plus one filly, have been declared for the Premier Classic over 1m3f, with the Group Two worth over €640,000.
This year, due to Capannelle Racecourse in Rome not being operational until September, the course's black type races in the first half of the year have been moved to San Siro Racecourse in Milan. The Oaks d'Italia also takes place over the same course and distance in three weeks' time.
The full field for the Italian Derby, which features two British-trained runners, is as follows:
1 ARCHERS BAY
Wootton Bassett - Foxtrot Liv (Foxwedge)
T: Marco Botti (GB). J: Marco Ghiani. Stall: 2.
Marco Botti won this last year with Molveno and Archers Bay looks another solid contender for the stable having chased home Betfred Derby contender Ancient Egypt at Newmarket last time - this extra furlong should suit.
2 ARKANSAS (f)
Sottsass - Sketches Of Spain (Lope De Vega)
T: Jerome Reynier (FR). J: Antonio Orani. Stall: 10.
French-trained Listed winner is one of the most experienced runners in the field but has came unstuck in two attempts at Group level so far, including when fourth behind Gilded Prize at Saint-Cloud when last seen in April. The only filly in the race would be a surprise winner.
3 BRIGHT LIGHT
City Light - Brighton Blues (Sakhee)
T: Andreas Suborics (GER). J: Benjamin Marie. Stall: 2.
Thoroughly unexposed having won on debut before finishing a close second in a Longchamp Listed race last time. Will need more, however.
4 BRUXELLES
Ruler Of The World - Barbarika (Mark Of Esteem)
T: Raffaele Biondi (ITA). J: Andrea Mezzatesta. Stall: 15.
Two from two this year, both at San Siro and over 1m2f. No reason why this extra furlong won't suit given his pedigree, but this is a big step up in class.
5 CAMPONANES
Saxon Warrior - Mezyan (Acclamation)
T: Daniele Zarroli (FR). J: Silvestre de Sousa. Stall: 14.
Something of a winning machine having scored in five of his eight starts to date, including on the last four occasions, though the most recent of those was his only race on turf. This is a big step up but he keeps improving and has done nothing wrong.
6 DASTAN
Reliable Man - Diajaka (Kamsin)
T: Bohumil Nedorostek (GER). J: Clement Lecoeuvre. Stall: 12.
Off the mark at the third attempt in Munich last time, winning narrowly in a conditions race over this trip. However, only beat one runner home in his sole Group race at two and this looks a bridge too far.
7 DEAR ENEMY
Isfahan - Domsturmerin (Kamsin)
T: Raffaele Biondi (ITA). J: Mirco Demuro. Stall: 8.
Followed up his debut fifth with a one-length win over this course and distance last month but this requires more. Plenty of options from middle stall for his veteran jockey, who has won this twice before and rode the top-class Falbrav prior to his move to Luca Cumani.
8 DR OMRAN
Palace Pier - Astonishing (Galileo)
T: Agostino Affe' (ITA). J: Jamie Spencer. Stall: 1.
Signed off his juvenile campaign with a Group Three win down in Rome but trailed home last on his sole start here this spring and arrives with something to prove. Jamie Spencer is a an eye-catching jockey booking.
9 EX ANIMO
Wootton Bassett - Peach Tree (Galileo)
T: Gabriele Bietolini (ITA). J: Mario Sanna. Stall: 5.
Ex Aidan OBrien-trained colt got off the mark at Leopardstown on his second start last year, but has been comfortably beaten in his two starts this term in France. Now gets a belated step up in trip.
10 GRAND SON OF DARK
Dark Angel - Chica Bonita (Lope De Vega)
T: Endo Botti (ITA). J: Alessio Satta. Stall: 16.
Sure to be a popular choice with locals having ran out a convincing winner of the Premio Parioli (2000 Guineas) here last month, but he is not certain to relish the extra three furlongs.
11 HELLO JO
Hello Youmzain - La Jonction (Kingman)
T: Mario Baratti (FR). J: Cristian Demuro. Stall: 11.
Interesting, having trailed home last of four in the Prix Greffulhe last time, but only beaten a couple of lengths by the winner Alam, who finished fifth in the Prix du Jockey Club on Sunday having been drawn out in stall 16.
12 PASHANG
Isfahan - Prima Violetta (Areion)
T: Henk Grewe (GER). J: Thore Hammer Hansen. Stall: 9.
Surefire stayer arrives here having had two starts and won by seven lengths last time over a mile and a half. Unexposed and likely to improve once more with his talented young rider on board again.
13 QUANTAS
Ghaiyyath - Amchitka (Cape Cross)
T: Vaclav Luka Jr (CZE). J: Hugo Besnier. Stall: 13.
Unraced until mid-February, he followed up a win on his second start at Chantilly with a second here last month on turf debut. This step up from Listed level requires more.
14 SALITOS
In Swoop - Sacre Fleur (Acclamation)
T: Peter Schiergen (GER). J: Bauyrzhan Murzabayev. Stall: 3.
Sure to stay having won over this trip in relatively testing conditions at Fontainebleau in February before finishing second on better ground over a mile and a half at Saint-Cloud last time. Experienced jockey/trainer combination should not be underestimated but a career best will be required.
15 TOPO CINESE
Japan - No Limit Credit (Night Of Thunder)
T: Endo Botti (ITA). J: Dario Ti Tocco. Stall: 7.
Experienced colt has had eight starts, with a run of three handicap victories ended by a second over this course and distance in conditions company last time. This better ground should be more to his liking, but faces a Stakes race for the first time here.
16 VENETIAN PRINCE
St Mark's Basilica - Arabian Queen (Dubawi)
T: Andrew Balding (GB). J: P J McDonald. Stall: 6.
Half-brother to See The Fire and a son of Arabian Queen who finished tenth in the Betfred 2000 Guineas for Andrew Balding, and should appreciate these calmer waters up in trip. Cheekpieces are replaced by blinkers.
VERDICT

PASHANG falls into the could be anything category and will need to step forward once more, but he looks an above average colt based on his demolition job in Germany last time and can continue his progression by taking this valuable prize. Marco Botti's Archers Bay can prove best of the rest, ahead of the French-trained Hello Jo, who may find this easier than his most recent domestic assignment.
1 PASHANG. 2 ARCHERS BAY. 3 HELLO JO.
