Hurdles prep under consideration for Josses Hill ahead of Peterborough defence

Mon 30 Oct 2017

Josses Hill could have a spin over hurdles before defending his crown in the Peterborough Chase at Huntingdon on December 10.

The Nicky Henderson-trained nine-year-old clinched the biggest success of his career to date in the Grade Two contest last season, dominating his rivals from the front in the hands of Noel Fehily.

He struggled against the very best in the King George at Kempton, the Ryanair Chase at Cheltenham and the Melling Chase at Aintree, but is reported to be in good order ahead of his return to action.

Owner Alan Spence said: "Josses Hill is in good form and we're aiming for the Peterborough Chase with him again.

"It's the perfect race and the perfect track for him, so that's the plan.

"He'll probably have a run somewhere beforehand and it may be over hurdles."
