Dave Nevison tips: King Of Answers makes sense

Betting expert Dave Nevison reckons he has got the Coral Scottish Grand National cracked and has three other fancies in the supporting races at Ayr.

1.10 Ayr: Sans Bruit

Sans Bruit was clearly plotted up to win last weekend’s Red Rum Chase at Aintree for a third time.
He didn’t quite manage to complete te hat-trick, in part due to having too much competition for the lead. However, he was still a creditable third.
Sans Bruit now arrives another track that favours front-running tactics and it looks as though he may be able to get more of an uncontested lead this time.
The presence of Matata carrying topweight means that Sans Bruit carries just 10st 2lb with several below him out of the weights. The Nicholls chaser has a great opportunity for quick compensation.

2.20 Ayr: Tellherthename

It is fair to say that things have not gone brilliantly for this seven-year-old since he had a successful novice season when with Ben Pauling.
He has been campaigned out of his level in Grade One events and didn’t take particularly well to fences, either, plus also went wrong in a good race at Ascot.
It is no surprise to me to see that his fortunes look back on the up after joining Dan Skelton, with an eye-catching run in the County Hurdle needing marking up as raced too far out of his ground.
On the plus side, he could be spotted staying on purposefully in the closing stages.
He is now equipped with a hood, presumably to calm him down as he was on his toes before the Cheltenham race, and Harry Skelton is on board for the first time.

2.55 Ayr: Twistthenightaway

A hat-trick of wins looks very much on for this Skelton-trained mare. She has been on a roll since switching to handicaps and being upped in trip.
This open handicap represents a big step up in class but it still not the most competitive of events and it is difficult to spot a rival that is as unexposed and upwardly mobile as her.
Three miles suits her well and soft ground is no issue.

3.35 Ayr: King Of Answers

Lucinda Russell won this great race in 2021 with a first-season novice chaser and is the only Scottish-based trainer to win the country’s biggest chase this century.
The seven-year-old King Of Answers is also a novice (they have a strong record in the race) and is classy enough to have earned almost top weight.
He jumps well and is versatile, having made all to win on his penultimate start before being held up and staying on well to be second in the National Hunt chase at the Cheltenham Festival on his latest start.
Soft ground and extended trips are perfect for him and the cheekpieces certainly seem to have brought about improvement.
I have had a decent bet but have had more than a saver on Joseph O’Brien’s Kim Roque, who was another Festival eyecatcher in the Kim Muir and also looks an ideal type for this race. I am struggling to find a “result” for the bookies.
