Horse racing tips: Dave Nevison's Wednesday picks

Our pundit and resident website tipster Dave Nevison likes three look of three runners at Beverley and Salisbury on Wednesday, with two Listed races at the Wiltshire track on one of their big days of the year. Enjoy more action from Gowran Park and Kempton live on Racing TV.
4.20 Beverley: Beltane
We have to forgive a modest run last time but, given how well he has gone in his other runs since leaving Keith Dalgleish, I feel that Beltane might be a risk worth taking in this competitive field.
Mick Appleby’s four-year-old had previously won nicely over the slightly longer trip of an extended mile here two starts ago - his second good run at Beverley this season – and he’s very well-drawn in stall 2 given he likes to race prominently so he should be able to get the rail and the lead from the start.
Provided he doesn’t go off too fast, he should still be up there at the finish.
4.30 Salisbury: Caernarfon
She has been very ambitiously campaigned so far this season and has further lofty entries for the autumn, and I think this drop to Listed class might represent the opportunity of a confidence-boosting success.
Caernarfon has already finished fourth in the 1000 Guineas and third in the Oaks but hasn’t won since she rounded off last season with a win at this level at the back-end of last season and she will appreciate this drop in class.
Ten furlongs looks her ideal trip and, with trainer Jack Channon in excellent form, a local success looks on the cards.
4.50 Beverley: Dandy’s Angel
She can go very close once more.
Dandy’s Angel has turned over a new leaf this season and is not giving her rivals a headstart of several lengths from the stalls, meaning that she has enough energy left at the finish.
She has already won three handicaps this season but, because she wins by less than half a length every time, she has only gone up 6lb in the handicap after all of her successes. Last time she ran fourth in a really competitive amateurs’ event at Pontefract in a performance that suggested this higher mark was not beyond her in the right race.
Dandy’s Angel is well drawn here in a race set to be run at a fast pace and Ryan Sexton - who has two wins and a narrow second from three rides aboard this mare – is back in the plate.
