Our pundit and resident website tipster Dave Nevison likes the look of three runners over jumps on Tuesday. Enjoy all the action from Leicester and Down Royal live on Racing TV.
Hopefully we are getting through the freeze and Storm Isha and we can start the week with some decent jumping action. I have put up three consistent types in bigger-field handicaps here and hopefully we will be rewarded from an each-way treble.
1.00 Leicester: Pipers Cross
Robbie Llewellyn has his string in very good form and is really making a statement as a trainer to note.
Pipers Cross has run just twice since moving to this yard and has put up good efforts to be second on both occasions, the latest when applied with cheekpieces and going down fighting under this rider. She only needs to match that run to go very close here.
Pipers Cross is best suited by soft ground and, although dropping down in trip here, the stiff Leicester straight will suit her very well.
2.35 Newbury: Gazette Bourgeoise
This is a seriously competitive novices' chase, but it is really difficult to see this experienced mare not hitting the frame at least and she looks something of an each-way insurance bet at the likely prices.
I put up Gazette Bourgeoise a couple of times last season when I thought she might be suited by an out-and-out stamina test, but it looks as though she might not be the extreme stayer I thought.
On her reappearance this season, she probably should have won at Ffos Las but idled on the run-in and got done by a nose at the line. She looked very comfortable with the trip just short of three miles there and gets similar here. If see comes on a little for that run there's no reason for concern by a 3lb rise in the weights.
3.10 Newbury: Kazontherazz
She is another runner with a concerning number of second places in her form figures, but a look back through her runs shows that - when she is right - Kazontherazz is a game and genuine mare who is definitely capable of getting her head in front.
She has had a recent wind op and that looks set to pay dividends judged on a sterling effort last time, when she finished runner-up in a similar event at Ludlow.
The eight-year-old definitely stays this trip well and the booking of Brian Hughes (taking over from 5lb claimer) really takes the eye.
