Our presenter and website regular Angus McNae is back after a break and shares his idea of the winners for the Sky Bet Sunday Series finale from . Enjoy that and the final day of the August Festival from live on Racing TV.
It’s good to be back with four selections after enjoying a short break. Racing TV is covering the Sky Bet Sunday Series finale from
and all of my tips are on the near-£250,000 card.
4.15 Pontefract: Terries Royale
I would be even keener on this horse if he did not have to overcome a wide draw in stall 12, but nonetheless I still think he is well enough treated to go close under
.
Terries Royale has been in good form lately, finishing second to a well-treated rival at
last time and the speed figure he produced there suggests he is well treated.
With some improvement to come he is worth chancing despite that wide draw.
5.15 Pontefract: Letsbefrank
He went close to winning the £100,000 bonus for landing three races during the Sky Bet Sunday Series a fortnight ago and he can make amends and hit the jackpot here.
has improved as he has gradually stepped up in trip and this test over two miles and a furlong and on a stiff track should suit him ideally.
A mark of 76 underestimates his raw ability and, with improvement to come, he can initiate a double for in–form trainer
.
6.15 Pontefract: American Affair
I am a big fan of this progressive handicap sprinter, who has put up three good performances in a row now and looks sure to go well again here.
is a strong traveller who was just edged out in a very competitive handicap at
last time and, despite a 4lb rise in the weights, he can go close again over this stiff five furlongs which should suit his style of racing. He will be seen to best effect off a strong gallop where his challenge is delayed as long as possible.
6.45 Pontefract: Winning Point
This filly makes her handicap debut after winning at Lingfield on just her second career start and she looks sure to go well.
Winning Point showed a sharp turn of foot to win last time and she had clearly learnt plenty from her debut over seven furlongs, a trip which stretched her stamina, and for a trainer with a 28 per cent strike rate with sprinters.
She has a useful pedigree, being by Blue Point out of a dam who finished second in the Irish 1000 Guineas, and an opening mark of 75 may underestimate her.
