Fingers crossed the meetings at Catterick and Naas on Sunday pass morning inspections. I have our selections starting with:
1.30 Catterick: Malpas
Malpas was in control when falling at the last on his hurdling debut and can make amends. He had travelled really strongly through that contest and was at least six lengths clear when coming down.
Donald McCain, who will be a guest on Luck On Sunday, has his horses in fine form and a return to Catterick can see him register another winner.
Malpas can be keen and it is sensible that he is being asked to race at this sharp venue. His main asset is his speed and I can see him being too quick for his rivals.
2.15 Naas: Mr Incredible
Henry De Bromhead and Rachel Blackmore team up with this promising type.
He bumped into the seemingly very useful Gaillardia Du Mesnil on his debut at Leopardstown but ran very well in defeat to finish second.
He pulled clear of the. third and it was a highly encouraging start to his career. He finds himself up against another promising type in Glens of Antrim, who looked full of potential when second in his maiden hurdle, but the race that Mr Incredible ran in was completed in a relatively faster time.
That makes me want to side with the Henry De Bromhead-trained representative.
3.15 Naas: Pencilfulloflead
I am keen on this horse now that he returns to three miles.
He won the Grade Two Florida Pearl over this trip two starts ago at Punchestown and then went on to give Colreevy a fight at Limerick over 2m3f in the Grade One Faugheen Novices chase.
Colreevy has franked the form and, back at three miles, Pencilfulloflead can resume winning ways.
4.00 Catterick: Lebowski
This horse travelled very strongly when finishing second at Huntingdon in December.
He looked to be the best horse in the race and if his rider had been more vigorous close to the line he might have won.
Nonetheless, his raw potential is clear and he should be able to make amends here.
He was formerly with Paul Nolan in Ireland, where he was a promising second in a bumper at Tipperary. He has more scope and potential than his rivals.
