Our website tipster has three best bets from Pontefract on a fascinating card. Enjoy eight live races from 1pm live on Racing TV. This is a seriously interesting card and I am convinced there will be plenty of future winners coming from both the handicaps and the novice events. Hopefully one of these may be ready.
The market may indicate whether he is fit and well enough for his seasonal reappearance. If he is, he certainly has plenty of other factors in his favour.
This lightly-raced five-year-old has clearly had issues, but he ran his best race last term on his return after a break and could be one to catch fresh.
His jockey has ridden plenty of times around this course as an amateur and is making a big impression as an apprentice this year.
He returns in the lowest-grade handicap he has run in since his last win, which came in the 0-90 bracket over course and distance. The forecast strong pace should also suit him very well.
I don’t often get involved in three-year-old handicaps this early in the season, but Popmaster went into many trackers – including mine - after his eye-catching return and that form has already shown signs of working out very well. I expect a very good run.
He may have been a bit rusty at Lingfield and went up in the air when the stalls opened, but he soon gathered himself and stayed on extremely well. Though he lost a lot of ground, he was only beaten a neck and a short head at the line. The second Diligent Harry was a well-backed winner on Good Friday at Lingfield and this is very good handicap form.
Richard Kingscote is back on board and so will be ready for the start this time. I expect a very good run.
He was consistent for all of last season and possibly unlucky not to win in the second half of the campaign, but the handicapper has relented a couple of pounds and he can prove the best of Tim Easterby’s pair in this competitive heat.
David Allan was on board for his two wins last season and also when a very good second off 2lb higher over this course and distance.
A stiff mile and a strong pace suits perfectly and both are certain here. A good run looks assured, especially now he is dropped down to a lower level of contest than he has been running in.
