Star tipster Dave Nevison nominates three to follow at Beverley on Wednesday. Watch every race live on Racing TV!
1.40 Beverley: Filey Beach
Some of the runners in this low-grade handicap might be better served running along Filey Beach but I think there is just a chance this bottom weight might be finally improving a tiny bit based on his last two runs.
Filey Beach didn’t make the cut for the Charlie Johnston team after a few moderate runs but he has been gelded and had a wind op and things look a little brighter.
Now trained by Jason Ward, he stayed on after making the running last time, only giving best in the final furlong.
He is drawn well enough to be prominent again in stall five and veteran jockey
John Egan travels to Beverley for just two rides.
This horse is well bred and hopefully he might finally start to live up to his pedigree here.
4.18 Beverley: Mattice
Mattice was out of the frame at Beverley last time out, the first time in five career starts at the track, but watching the race he got stuck in traffic and his jockey didn’t persevere once it was clear he had no chance.
He won this race last season off a 1lb higher mark and had a very similar profile having tumbled down the weights before being well backed to score.
He is well drawn in stall two and looks in better nick than recent form figures suggest. Mattice looks worth a bet to follow up at one of his favourite tracks.
5.28 Beverley: Bearwith
Bearwith ran his best ever race under
Joanna Mason when she steered him into second spot at Doncaster in June.
Mason is back on board, taking over from a claimer, for the first time since then.
Things haven’t gone perfectly for Bearwith since that effort but the handicapper has not relented until now and has dropped him a couple of pounds.
That will certainly help as he has won off a 3lb higher mark on the all-weather. If he gets the breaks, he is certainly well enough weighted to score.
