Racing TV presenter Angus McNae has a quartet of selections running at three of the four meeetings live on Racing TV on Sunday, including in the Colin Parker Memorial Intermediate Chase (2.00pm).
This is a chaser with bundles of potential. It is debatable as to whether he would have beaten Chantry House in the Mildmay Novices’ Chase at Aintree, where he fell at the second last, but if he had stood up, it is entirely possible that he could already be a Grade One winner.
He had good form prior to that run as well, and his second to the very useful Royale Pagaille at Haydock in December, when conceding 5lb to that rival, is particularly eye-catching.
He looks to be a very bright chasing prospect and this Listed contest is the ideal launch pad for a successful season.
This horse can complete the hat-trick under Brian Hughes. He won on his first start for the James Ewart yard having left Archie Watson and I think there could be more improvement to come stepped up in trip to 3m2f on Sunday.
He is a very strong stayer, as he proved when winning by almost seven lengths at Perth last time out and is only 5lb higher in the weights here.
This race should be run at a good gallop courtesy of Christmas In April and that will play into the hands of Juge Et Parti who I can see staying on strongly up the Carlisle hill to score again. He looks a decent play at around 4-1.
This four-year-old is unbeaten in four starts over hurdles and starts life off in a handicap on the flat off a rating of 79, which looks lenient.
He has run in three maidens on the flat and was not seen to best effect at Thurles last time out. Having been held up in a slowly run race, he finished his race off well without ever threatening to score.
In a more competitive scenario here, where there is likely to be a good gallop, I expect him to take a big step forward.
He was a five-length winner of the Grade Two JCB Triumph Hurdle Trial at Cheltenham last year and that marks him out as being thrown in here.
Uno Mas holds obvious claims after his facile win at Aintree a week ago. He gets to race off the same mark here under the same conditional, Ellis Collier, who claims 10lb off his back.
It is important to remember that this seven-year-old won at Cheltenham in 2019 off a mark of 115 and races off 102 on Sunday, so is still attractively handicapped.
The only danger to another success would be if he bounced following his Aintree effort, but it is certainly the right call from connections to run him quickly in these circumstances.
I expect him to be ridden positively again and he will be hard to peg back round this sharp track. He will be a short price, but it is hard to ignore his claims.
