Racing TV presenter Angus McNae is in the tipping hot seat on Sunday and shares four selections. Watch how they fare live on Racing TV.
This useful Flat performer won the November Handicap last year off a mark of 99 and, although he has taken a while to show his true ability over hurdles, he is very much a horse to keep on side.
He got off the mark over hurdles in workmanlike fashion at Wincanton before shaping well in the Betfair Hurdle at Newbury last time out. He travelled up strongly into that very competitive handicap before a mistake shuffled him back in the field. He was clearly better than the bare result and should be far too good for his rivals now back in novice company.
He remains a very well treated horse over hurdles and a big handicap could come his way after he gains some more experience here.
This horse can hopefully provide Tom Cannon - and us! - with a quick double.
I believe that there is a good chance he will set out to make all the running and will be very hard to catch.
His second to the very useful Cadzand here last time when trying to make all while conceding 6lbs and that is the best piece of form in the race.
He is a strong stayer at two miles and will be suited by further in time. He should be able to dominate this field and, providing that he does not badly need the run after a lay-off, I rate him as a decent play here.
This looks a decent Grade Three novice hurdle and I believe this horse can take another big step forward, having made all to win at Navan last time out.
He is a big imposing type who strikes me as a relentless galloper, and he may well be even better over further and over fences. For now, he looks a progressive hurdler who impressed last time and he never looked like being beaten from some way out. This is tougher and he will have to step forward, but that is quite likely given his lightly-raced profile.
It should be noted that his win last time under a well-judged ride produced a fast winning time. Three of Thomas Gibney's last ten runners have won, and another winner is on the cards here.
Chasing did not work out for him last time and this return to hurdling - coupled with a drop in grade - can see him return to the winner's enclosure.
He is just 2lbs higher in the weights than when winning at Uttoxeter last year and runs off the same mark as when second here last January. His shrewd connections have found him an ideal opportunity by picking out this 0-105 contest and, although he carries top-weight, he has a much better chance giving away weight to inferiors than receiving it from superior rivals.
In a modest race, he is handicapped to win and may have a class edge over his rivals.
